were formed in the late 1980's by Bill Chambers and Francis Quinn. Combining the best Irish traditional music with folk songs has always been the goal of the band. This is not your average run of the mill Irish band. Francis is a master on the fiddle when it comes to the pure tradition of Irish music. Billy Chambers always seeks out the obscure songs that hit home with all listeners regardless of having heard the song or not as well as a steady rythmn backing tunes on the guitar. The music has something to offer everyone in any audience. The Portersharks have gone through a number of transformations over their nearly 30 years together. Brendan Carr joined in on Bodhran and percussion just about 17 years ago. Pat Custy, the newest member joined the group just over two years ago adding the Irish Wood Flute and a number of new songs to the repretoire... Stick around... There's plenty more to come from the lads. And Hey! Have a Pint; you'll be fine...
